Performer Guidelines

Mahalo nui loa to our incredible performers and hula hālau for your unwavering commitment and support of the Live Aloha Hawaiian Cultural Festival. Your willingness to share your talent — whether through the beauty of hula, the power of live music, or the richness of Hawaiian storytelling — is what breathes life into this festival and transforms Seattle Center into a true home away from home for our ʻohana in the Pacific Northwest.

Live Aloha Hawaiian Cultural Festival Guidelines for Performer Participation

Performance Selection Goals

Selections will be made to curate a diverse, well-rounded program that embodies the Festival's mission — perpetuating and sharing the arts, music, hula, and cultural traditions of Hawaiʻi.

PerformersPerformers are selected and scheduled at the discretion of the Live Aloha committee. Performers will be selected based upon the completeness of the information provided on the application submitted. Performers will be notified by email no later than August 2, 2026. Videos and pictures are permitted. Selected performers will be required to complete an agreement, release and waiver, and Seattle Center Tech Sheet.
Programming

The Festival is a family-friendly, culturally respectful event. All performances must align with the mission and values of the Live Aloha Hawaiian Cultural Festival.

Limited stage time

To give the opportunity for as many Performers as possible, Performers will be scheduled for a 45 or 60 minute performance time starting at the time scheduled. This allows 10 minutes to set up the stage and 5 minutes to take down the stage following your performance and prepare for the next performer. (If you start late, that is deducted by cutting from your performance time.)

MusicAll music and hula performances should be Hawaiian music, including Hapa-Haole and Jawaiian styles (no Tahitian or other Polynesian music). All forms of music must be performed by live musicians with minimal pre-recorded material. If pre-recorded materials are used, a jump drive is best. CDs, I-pods and MP3 players can be plugged into the sound equipment but do not always work. Cell phones can NOT be used to provide your music.

Provide the original drive to the stage manager upon performance check-in. Label the drive or drive case with the group's name and the name (first & last) of the person responsible for the drive. Don't forget to pick up your drive at the end of your performance. Drives will be discarded if not picked up by the end of the Festival.
Number of Performers

Due to safety and security concerns, we are continuing to restrict performing group sizes to a MAXIMUM of 35 total performers -- inclusive of musicians. In addition, each performing group is permitted no more than 5 backstage helpers.

OtherThis is a non-union un-paid performance. Honorarium may be given at the discretion of the Live Aloha Festival committee.

By checking this box, I acknowledge and agree to abide by the Performer Guidelines.
